When Magic Sword cleared me to photograph them during their current tour with Avatar at the Fillmore, I was beyond stoked – both because this would be my first photographic experience in the Twin Cities, but also because Magic Sword are AWESOME. Along for the ride on the ‘Going Hunting’ tour will be metalcore upstarts Tallah and masked weirdos Magic Sword. Being a recent transplant to the Minneapolis area, I was excited to get into the venues in the area and see what they’re like. The forces of evil gain ground and the battle for the fate of the universe becomes increasingly desperate.

It was a special experience being at this concert. Magic Sword may have materialized momentarily to witness synthmetal’s earliest incarnation, but they aren’t content to only update with touches of Kavinsky-esque synthesizer and modern-pedal guitar shred.For one thing, they’re uniformly vocals-free.
